Welcome to my universe!
This is a personal blog, where I share my thoughts of whatever might be on my silly little mind. Some people might ask 'why have a blog?' For me it is about sharing what I feel and what I just need to show some one. & I have had this blog since 2007. I don't care if there is only one person reading it or none. I just want this to be my little sacred place and you are very welcome to join... - Nina

So I was looking in my folder with the newest pictures Maria and I took and I thought why not take those I had not been thinking of using. So most of the pictures of me are some I did not think in the first place to use, but here they are.
Trying a little different editing style - just for kicks ;)

I'm back from Croatia. It was such a nice trip. I got a mosquito bite just under my right eye and apparently I am allergic so my eye was all big and ugly. I looked like someone who just got beaten up bad.. not pretty. At least it's gone now.... so I can look a little decent. Anyway I'll make a bigger update later.. I'm too tired.

love,
nina

Beauty
Written the 13 Jul 2010 by Nina

So lately. I have been thinking about beauty.
I recently read "The picture of Dorian Gray" by Oscar Wilde - the reason I bought it was because I had read a lot of quotes by him and found him quite exciting, indeed. I admit the book had a challenging language, but it's from 1890. In this book the subject of beauty is brought up several of times. The character Lord Henry, a man with quite different view on life in those times, says that beauty and pleasure are the only things worth pursing in life. This makes Dorian Gray want to stay beautiful forever etc.
Is beauty that important? It seems that in the 1800 beauty was important to engage in ex marriages and a woman's reputation. Still, today, I have no statistics for this, but I would claim what we obsess more than ever about this ideal beauty. "Researchers have found that good looking students get higher grades from their teachers than students with an ordinary appearance" (Sharon BegleyJuly 14, 2009 (2009-07-14). "The Link Between Beauty and Grades". Newsweek.) I have also been told over and over how to appear when attending an oral exam. "Don't look too cheap, or too reserved, don't smell, but don't use too much perfume etc" God, it really is proved that appearance matters when graded. I'm sad. You easily become accepted into society if you are beautiful, but beauty is not all happiness. If one is beautiful one can also be hated for it. Jalousie, is a mean thing, but it is true. I watched "The White Oleander" recently, which is based on the book by Jane Fitch, where Astrid, the main character, is being bullied for being beautiful - so she decides to chop her long locks of to look more plain.
I honestly don't know what good beauty does us? In these years I dare say millions of women thrive to be beautiful - they will do anything, plastic surgery etc. And then when many of them aren't the ideal kind of beauty they become sad, depressed. Many, many teenagers know this feeling, of not feeling beautiful enough. And when someone actually feels good about themselves - some low self-esteem idiot say they are self-centered and ugly. Why? Oh, why? People can be so nasty! Why not tell them that you think it is great that they are feeling good. I honestly know very few girls who are satisfied with themselves and they would not call themselves beautiful. It just kills me. I was at a party with this so extremely beautiful girl - and she tells me she thinks she is ugly. (It did not seem like she was just seeking attention, just to mention that) It killed myself inside, it really did. She is so beautiful - like so natural and pretty. Gah, I of course told her otherwise and secretly thought to myself "if she is ugly, what does that make me?".. Beauty, oh beauty. I do not understand why the media only portrays one kind of beauty. I honestly don't. I took pictures of a friend of mine. I swear to God (even though I am not that big of believer in God, but just the expression..) she IS beautiful - not the beauty in the television, magazines - everywhere. She has another beauty. It made me so sad when a girl at a party said to me about the pictures of the girl with a different kind of beauty: "Oh yeah she is very photogenic- because when you see her you don't really think that she is pretty." I was like WHAT in my mind. I don't blame her. Society becomes so narrow-minded of what beauty is because of the media. THERE IS NOT ONE KIND OF BEAUTY! The majority of humans may be screwed up inside their little brains, but we are not all lost. I know, or hope, that there is still people out there who does not think that the media beauty is the only kind..

- Long, boring blog I AM SORRY. Just needed to let that out, thanks.
